A shackle, better known as D-ring, is horseshoe formed sturdy metal alloy with a threaded pin that closes the open end. How to use Warn D-Shackles? It can be used to hook a winch cable to some number of things. To apply, simply unthread the pin, slip the pinion through the centers from a tree saver, tow recovery strap, tow hook, or any else you are attaching your Warn winch hook to, and screw the pin back in.

A different D-rings (shackle) technique is, put you winch’s clutch in free spool. Grab the hook and pull out the cable far enough to reach your anchor point. Arrange a tree protector strap around the bottom from the tree trunk near the base and attach with a Warn D-shackle. Set the winch cable hook connected the D-shackle.
